Humanitarian situation at the EU-Belarus border discussed with the IFRC

On 1 December, Chargé d’Affaires of Lithuania in Geneva Mr Donatas Tamulaitis met with the Under Secretary General for National Society Development and Operations Coordination of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Mr Xavier Castellanos and discussed the humanitarian challenges at the EU-Belarus border.

„It is of the utmost importance to ensure unhindered humanitarian access within Belarus in order to help those, who find themselves in this situation due to the artificially created crisis orchestrated by the Belarusian regime“ -  Mr Tamulaitis said.

He thanked the IFRC for its attention to the situation on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border and all the valuable assistance provided to the Lithuanian Red Cross national society so far.

Lithuania supports the objectives and principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that guide sustainable and impartial humanitarian action worldwide and annually contributes financially to the activities of the Movement’s organizations.
