On 14 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the new German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock on the margins of the informal meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union (Gymnich) in Brest, France. The meeting focused on bilateral issues, the key challenges facing the region and a possible joint EU response to China’s economic pressure.

On 15 November in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attended a joint session, during which foreign affairs and defence ministers exchanged views on the initial draft of the EU Strategic Compass, with a view to the European Council's discussion in December. The document is due to provide clear political-strategic guidance on the EU approach to security and defence.

On 15 April in Brussels, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis attended the Foreign Affairs Council meeting. Foreign affairs ministers expressed the unanimous support of EU member states for the countries facing crisis at their state borders -  Lithuania, Poland and Latvia - and took a decision on the application of broader sanctions against the Belarusian regime that had orchestrated a flow of irregular migrants to the EU countries.

On 18 October in Luxembourg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attended the Foreign Affairs Council, which focused on the Eastern Partnership, the migration crisis caused by the Belarusian regime, the EU’s relations with the Gulf countries, the situation in the Western Balkans region, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and other foreign policy issues.

The Government of Lithuania continues to support third countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. It has decided to provide humanitarian aid and donate 235, 900 doses of Vaxzevria (COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca) to Taiwan.

On 15 September, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Arnoldas Pranckevičius attended the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) Foreign Ministers' meeting in Helsinki, Finland. At the meeting, the NB8 Foreign Ministers discussed items on the international agenda important for our region, including the difficult situation in Afghanistan, the role of international organisations (e.g., the OSCE, the UN, the HRC) in strengthening international security, security challenges posed by climate change, measures to fight  the COVID-19 pandemic, and other relevant issues.

On 3 September, during a discussion on the EU’s relations with China at an informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers (Gymnich), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis informed his counterparts about the recent political, diplomatic and public relations pressures at bilateral level from Beijing and came up with proposals regarding the formats for expanding the EU's ties with China, as well as the necessary instruments.
